TRAFFIC PLAN see image below
KIDS >>>>
If you are visiting with kids here are my tips
1 : Do multiple loo stops before 9pm
2 : Bring a picnic/snacks
3 : Bring a rug that doesn’t stick to spiky grass
CROWDS >>>>>
There will be 500-700k people watching. Please look after your belongings and your kids. If you are taking a walk home along the river bank or somewhere less lit up make sure you have your phone torch as it can be tricky in the dark.
LEAVING CARCASSONNE AFTERWARDS >>>>
If you parked in a car park there will be long delays leaving. This depends on which car park but normally there are delays on all exit routes.
I would recommend parking along Avenue Bunau Varilla between the Sapeur Pompiers and the city. It makes for a very easy journey out of Carcassonne afterwards. There are plenty of spaces and most years it is not too busy. There is also parking at CAF and you can walk along by the river as far as Quai Bellevue to find a watching spot.
